Using Power BI to Standardize Reporting Across Regions
The client is a global mining corporation with over 24,000 employees in several countries and growing.
The company’s Regional Talent Managers were manually manipulating .CSV spreadsheets pulled from SuccessFactors to produce graphs that told the story of their business each month. To help eliminate this manual and inconsistent effort across regions, they asked us to implement a standardized and automated reporting system.
We met with each of the regions to gather information on current-state reporting and important metrics to their business. The software selected was Microsoft Power BI due to its inexpensive licenses, and compatibility with their needs.
We proposed a data visualization software, which offered several benefits to the regions:
- Reduced time spent on reporting instead of recruitment
- Provided global consistency in analysis performed
- Centralized tracking of results & reduced tracking outside of the system
- Offered faster, cleaner auditing by providing a way to see the data associated with each metric
The visual dashboard was built and implemented, allowing leadership to access the information they needed without any manual manipulation.
